The Cardiology Clinic at the Albertinen Hospital offers a full spectrum of invasive and conservative diagnosis and therapy, follow-up, and rehabilitation.
This coordinated and integrated treatment provides healthcare from a single source. The fully equipped cardiology area is supervised by a specialized team of physicians and nurses, and is equipped with ECG, ergometer, spiroergometry, lung function test, 3D echocardiography, two cardiac catheter places, pacemaker outpatient clinic, and heart MRI. A dedicated team of physicians and nurses is also available for therapy on the wards. In addition, all wards are equipped with mobile cardiac monitoring so that every patient can be well cared for.
The aim of our dedicated team of physicians, nurses, and medical and technical assistants is to offer everyone an individual, modern diagnosis and therapy for cardiovascular disease. Around 4,000 operations are performed each year.
Prof. Karsten Sydow has been Head Physician of the Cardiology Clinic in the Cardiovascular Center of Albertinen Hospital since 2017.
His clinical expertise includes general cardiology, non-invasive and invasive coronary diagnostics including intervention, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, and cardiac intensive care.
He has experience in the field of interventional valve therapy (transcatheter aortic valve implantation – TAVI), left atrial occlusion device implant (left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO)) and renal denervation (RDN).
Due to his many years of activity in competitive sports, including as an internist and cardiologist for Hamburger SV – the German Bundesliga football (Am. "soccer") team, he has developed special expertise in cardiac sports medicine.
